5 New Things I did This Year

Now that we are drawing near to the end of the year, I thought this would be a good post to share some of my new ventures as well as hopefully inspire a few people to do something new. I am looking forward to the new year and all the new challenges that I can take on.

  1. I decided to take on the challenge of learning a new language. I love to learn languages,  I feel as though language learning is one of my strongest skills if not the strongest. So I chose to study Arabic, it has been such an amazing and enlightening experience as well as a challenging one. I am still only a beginner but with every day I am becoming more and more confident in my knowledge of the language and hope in the future to potentially do a few blog posts in Arabic
  2. I returned to education and decided to start my first degree. Education is one of my biggest passions and since leaving college 2 years ago, I have deeply missed classroom learning. I am more than happy to be learning something that I am very interested in and enjoy studying.
  3. I decided to go bare faced a little more often. One of the biggest issues I have had up until now is my confidence in my face without no makeup, it has been a big struggle for me to accept and believe that I am beautiful without wearing any makeup. It has been amazing to feel comfortable to go out with no makeup nearly every day and not feel conscious of the way I look.
  4. I cut my hair - not by too much though! After a terrible experience with the hairdressers about nine years ago, it has been very hard to convince me to get my hair cut in fear that my hair will end up looking nowhere near where I wanted it to. Slowly but surely I am going to the hairdresser for trims more often haha
  5. Focused more on personal development. Personal development is very important and sometimes you need to take time out for yourself to help your growth. I wanted to help grow as a person so this year I spent a lot of time relaxing as well as learning things about myself. If you ever need a break, take it!

So those are a few of my favourite things that I did this year. I hope 2018 brings me soo many new challenges and I continue to excel in my personal growth. If you want to do something new then take the opportunity to do it whether that is blogging, a new job etc

Let me know what new things you did this year in the comments down below.

Let's start over - Onwards & Upwards!

Six months since my last post? Time really does fly by.

I wanted to write a post explaining my absence on this blog and the future of this blog. Yes, it's been countless times since I have sat at my laptop and said "Time to blog again" then followed up with an updates post only to disappear a month later...

I think to blog it requires a heck of a lot of motivation, inspiration but ultimately you need to want to put in the effort and that was just the problem for me. Not to mention the lack of time I had after starting my first proper job last year.  I felt like blogging had become a little bit of a chore and I just was not putting in the same effort as before. I did not want to put up crappy content but neither did I want to abandon my blog altogether.

That's why I really had to think well and hard this time to see if it was something I wanted to continue, I mean there is only so many times you can go down the same road right? Unfortunately I am someone who tends to hold onto my mistakes and can find it a little hard to move forward so when I looked at my blog all I could see was the countless times I disappeared or put up not so great content.

After a good long 6 months of personal development and taking time back to reflect over various things my life, now I am at a point where I feel ready to resume blogging. At the end of the day, your mistakes do not define you or your future and you should never let them hold you back. I'm excited to see how I progress with new take on my blog and I hope to bring you some amazing content soon!

Thank you!

Switch Up Your Skincare Routine

It's always important to maintain your skin and keep it healthy by regularly cleaning your skin, getting enough beauty sleep and making sure you eat food that contains vitamins e.g fruit and vegetables.

I have to admit I often find myself procrastinating my skincare routine as it can seem dull at times, so I thought it would be a good idea to write a post on a couple of ways you can switch up your skincare routine to add something different to the generic cleanse-tone-moisturise routine.

More and more people are opting for a facial cleansing brush to incorporate into their skincare routine and it is pretty easy to see why. Facial cleansing brushes are 10x more effective at cleansing the skin rather than using your hands which means a cleaner and more clearer complexion. A brand such as Panasonic would be a great place to check out if you have never used a facial cleansing brush before as they are often featured for their innovative and unique products.

Such a tool would help make your skincare routine effortless and more effective, if your curious as to how to use one I found a great article on Allure as well as a guide from Cosmopolitan to getting the best out of a facial cleansing brush.

Another way to switch up your skin is with face masks! They are a great idea as nowadays you can find a face mask for pretty much anything and everything so your honestly spoilt for choice when choosing a face mask. From my experience, I have always loved Lush Fresh Face Masks as they have quite a varied range for different skin types and concerns.

A good suggestion if your new to face masks is the Don't Look At Me Mask  from Lush. I think it would be super fun to use in your skincare routine as the bright blue colour alone is enough to make you smile and has a very invigorating smell!

Let me know how you like to break the normal routine of your skincare. Is there any interesting tools you incorporate into your skincare? What type of steps do you take in your skincare routine? Have you tried any of the products above or similar? I would love to hear any tips!

Where I'm at with blogging

I can't remember how many times I have said this but welcome back to my blog! At this point it's probably been quite a few times. From the time I started blogging, there have been many points where I ended up just taking spontaneous breaks from blogging, some times these lasted a month, two months or in this case five months. Since starting my job last August, I haven't dedicated much time to my blog unfortunately and that is something I want to change.

Recently I have been re-evaluating a lot of things in my life and one of those was my blog. I had to really think about the direction I want to take it in and whether I even wanted to continue posting. I mean I started this almost 3 years ago and one of the biggest things that occurred to me is what I have done with my blog since.

Thinking about it thoroughly, I realised a lot of things - I want to continue blogging for as long as I can because I do honestly enjoy it and take my blog further then before. Instead of allowing myself to get carried away into everything else and neglecting my blog, I want to invest more and more time.

As I want to keep this 'comeback' post short and sweet, I won't go on any longer but the main point I am trying to get across here is I am going to be much more involved with my blog then previously before. I want to say a big thank you to Tartantights for helping me realise my blogging goals and always being there for me!
