Birchbox October 2014

On another note this months theme is 'Work it' as well as this it is also breast cancer awareness month and I think it is very good that Birchbox is highlighting this. The box has not particular design other than the fact that it has a little pink sticker on the corner that says 'Supporting Coppafeel'. Inside the box came with a 14 day planner with daily goals as well as ideas on how/when to use the product of this months selection. Rather than coming in the usual drawstring bag this month came in a nice pink small bag that I will definitely be using as a makeup bag on the go.

Birchbox is a monthly subscription service where you will receive 4-5 deluxe sized samples of both high end and high street brands. They have a focus on beauty but they do tend to include other lifestyle extras. They charge £12.95(including p&p) per month but they do also have other options available such as 6-month or 12-month subscription. Out of all my subscription boxes I find Birchbox has the best reward system, you will be able to review the products you receive each month and Birchbox will give you 5 points for each (50p). When you get to 100 points you will be able to use it in their online store to get £10 off what you would like to buy. Click the link below for more information.

Want to sign up? Use this link to get 50 extra points(£5) for their online store and also use the code OCT5 to get £5 off

October products:

  • Lollipops Paris Nail Polish: When I originally saw this product I dismissed simply because I don't particularly like reds on my nail only on my lips. However when I swatched this colour I must say I can feel myself beginning to like this shade. It is true to colour but I think in order to wear it I will have to put 2 coats on, I don't think one is enough if I wanted to wear this. I'm looking forward to seeing more products from this brand

  • Pixi Lip Balm: I got this lip balm in the shade 'Honey Nectar' which I am glad to have gotten as I quite like nude colours. The scent of this lip balm I find is very appealing, I'm not sure if it was just me but it smelt like chocolate. This lip balm is a full size product, when I finish my current lip balm (EOS Strawberry Sorbet) I will begin to use this.

  • Balance Me Cleanse and Smooth Face Balm: I love Balance Me products simply because I am a big fan of using products that contain natural ingredients. The consistency of this product is not too heavy and seeing as this product was for normal to dry/sensitive skin it made me like it even more. I don't necessarily have sensitive skin but I do have dry skin and so I will definitely be reaching for this product more often in this coming winter.

  • The Cool Fix Targeted Gel Lotion: In all honesty I have not had a chance to use this yet however I have heard mixed reviews on this product with some saying it was very calming on the legs whereas others said it gave them rashes/red spots on their legs. I will test this out this week and report back my findings.

  • KMS Hair Play Playable Texture: I'm not really a fan of using hair products simply because I tend to do hairstyles that don't really need extra help in any departments however this may sound weird but when I was putting my hair up the other day I saw this and used it to keep back my baby-hairs and I have to admit it did keep them at bay for at least a couple of hours.

  • Birchbox Lipstick Pen: Birchbox encouraged us to use this to tick of things within the 14 day planner they gave us. It is slightly cute however mine was slightly broken when I received it. Nonetheless I managed to fix it and it is just an ordinary pen.

I quite liked the idea/theme behind this months Birchbox and I do like at least 3 of the 5 products they gave us. I don't think it was as great as last month's box but then again not every month is going to be amazing. I am looking forward to what next month has in store for us and hopefully I will be able to unbox it on my youtube channel.

Quirk Nail Polish Review!

'Send him to Belize' and 'Peace is free'

About a month ago I received two Quirk nail polishes after entering a competition that I completely forgot about, it was my first ever win and I am glad to say I won something I actually like! When I received the two nail polishes I was smitten to say the least! The colours were beautiful and the names of the polishes were unique to say the least! The colors I got were 'Send him to Belize' and 'Peace is free'. Both nail polishes were 10ml.

'Send him to Belize'

The one that stuck out to me most in all honestly was 'Send him to Belize'. I have to admit my favorite out of the two. What a beautiful bronze gold color! To me I would most likely use it on top of another similar bronze colour to stand out instead of putting it straight on my bare nails as I feel it may not be enough to cover my whole nail. Normally I like to put a glitter colour on my ring finger only to stand out and add a unique twist to my polished nails.

'Peace is free'

The other colour I received was 'Peace is free'. 'Peace is free' is a nice colour to lay on top of a purple/blue colour to add a change to your nails. Inside of the nail polish there are confetti like pieces in a array of blue/purple/pink. It also has a slight pinkish tint to it almost like a french manicure and so it would be nice to use this polish for tips to separate myself from the traditional french manicure. Please o not mind my terrible swatch of the colour.

As always thank you very much for reading my review on Quirk Nail Polishes, please check back often for more reviews on other products!
